MASON — A car collided with a Capital Area Transportation Authority bus Monday in downtown Mason, which led to the bus striking a car parked in a driveway and dragging the car along with it into the front yard of a house next door, according to eyewitnesses.

"I was watching 'Law and Order' when all of a sudden I heard this crash," said Ken Duff, who lives in the 400 block of West Ash Street and whose porch was damaged by the accident. “I looked out the window and saw that my wife's car was gone."

He said his wife's 2009 Malibu was parked in the driveway, but the bus hit it and dragged it into the neighbor's yard before coming to a stop. The bus smashed through a fence and grazed the brick front porch of Duff's house before hitting the car and coming to a stop.

The Malibu ended up being wedged between the bus and the front porch.

A CATA spokesperson on the scene said there was one passenger on the bus, which is one of the smaller buses used for rural route pickups. No one was seriously injured.

Mason police were not available for comment, and it was unclear whether anyone in the car involved in the initial collision with the CATA bus was injured.
