Brownfield Redevelopment Plan for the Shopping Guide Facility

The Ingham County EDC/BRA had a very productive meeting this morning. We received an initial draft of the Brownfield Plan for the redevelopment of the Shopping Guide facility on E. Ash Street in Mason. The plan, if adopted, would allow a mixed use urban redevelopment of the building, including street level restaurant and retail space, and residential lofts on levels 2 and 3. The development will improve the appearance of the building, reduce potential health and environmental impacts from site contamination, add more than $720,000 of taxable value to the property, and generate new permanent jobs for the City of Mason and Ingham County. The plan would also allow usage of increment tax revenues, generated from the property, to reimburse the developer for the costs of redeveloping the property. The Ingham County BRA will review this plan at its March 9th meeting, with a final vote at a subsequent special meeting in March. Feel free to share your thoughts and reactions to this redevelopment project.
