Mason State Bank 5K Run/Walk set for May 6
MASON - The Mason State Bank 5K Run/Walk, part of the Playmakers Greater Lansing Race Series, will be held on May 6.
The 5K Run/Walk starts at 7 p.m., the youth one-mile run at 7:40 p.m. and the children's 100-yard dash at 7:55 p.m. All races start and finish at the Ingham County courthouse.
A high-tech performance shirt is guaranteed for all pre-registered 5K runners and walkers; the one-mile run and 100-yard dash runners will continue to receive cotton shirts and finishing awards.
Online registration is available at www.masonstate.com and playmakkers.com. Paper applications are available from various Mason businesses, the bank and the Mason Area Chamber of Commerce.
All net race proceeds benefit Mason Public Schools Foundation.
In 2008-2009 the Foundation made a $150,000 commitment to Mason school district's Technology Infusion Program. The cutting-edge technology in this program includes ceiling mounted data projectors, interactive whiteboards and digital document cameras for all grade levels.
Technology advances at the high school include a new video production equipment and studio. The 2010 race was taped by video production students from the high school. Featured in the coverage were interviews of various volunteers, runners, and sponsors along with a behind the scene view of what it takes to host a successful run.
The Mason State Bank 5K Run/Walk is one of the first events that kick off the 28th annual community Spring Fling on May 5-8.
