Arbor Day celebration Friday at Mason's Rayner Park

MASON - The Mason Arbor Day celebration will be at noon Friday at Rayner Park, 730 E. Ash St.

This year's tree is the white pine.

The Arbor Day celebration format started 19 years ago, spearheaded by Les Bruno, Jr.

Community Service Day is May 14 and will be a cleanup of the city, concentrating on Rayner Park, the Hayhoe Riverwalk and Sycamore Creek.

To help, contact Joe Manzella at manzellaj@leapinc.biz.

A fundraiser spearheaded by Bob Lyons and Moss Agate will be held from noon-7 p.m. May 22 at the 7309 VFW Post on 1243 Hull Road in Vevay Township. A small donation to the park is appreciated.

Those who cannot attend but would like to participate may send a donation to Jim Maddix, who will forward it to Lyons. The address is 450 High Point Drive, No. 2, Mason, MI 48854.

Due to the efforts of Al Schulien, Rayner Park will be dedicated as an historic site at 2 p.m. May 22. There will be a ceremony at the park.
