It was reported that a masked gunman entered the residence after the victim answered a knock at the front door. The suspect allegedly pushed his way in, demanding to know where the caregiver was, according to John Stressman, chief of the Mason Police Department.
The victim stated that she reached out and pulled down the suspect’s mask, but did not recognize him.
The suspect then pushed the victim into the bedroom, forced her down, and tied her hands and feet. The victim added she believed two to three more people were ransacking the residence but could not see them.
The suspects escaped with a Samsung cell phone and approximately four pounds of marijuana valued at approximately $4,000 to $6,000.
The victim was eventually able to free herself from her bondage and found that the hapless criminals had forgotten their pistol, which the victim found lying on the bed.
The victim reported grabbing up the pistol and running to a neighbor’s house for help and to call the police. A later inspection of the firearm by an officer found it to be a bb gun.
The suspects are still at large. The investigation includes possible violations of the Medical Marijuana Statute.
