| Mason Mayor Leon Clark |
A delegation from Mason — a city until recently past the fringes of Allegiance's marketing area — traveled to Jackson Tuesday to attend a breakfast meeting organized by Allegiance for business and government leaders.
Mason Mayor Leon Clark said he believes Allegiance has made headway in reversing his city's traditional orientation toward Lansing for health care.
"That's changing," Clark said. "I think we are ripe for a change.
"I've personally had experience with Allegiance, and they are head and shoulders above anyone else we've dealt with."
Clark said he would like to see Allegiance expand in his city.
Allegiance opened a family medicine office near Mason two years ago and recently hosted a community health screening at the Ingham County Fairgrounds.
It's part of a growth strategy that also includes Allegiance offices or marketing programs in Onsted, Albion, Chelsea, Adrian and Coldwater.
"Our vision is creation of a kind of health system where people are willing to drive here," said Allegiance CEO Georgia Fojtasek.
