MASON - Ingham County Sheriff Office officials have determined that a man and a woman found dead late Thursday near Mason died in a murder-suicide.

Timothy Hendricks, 53, and his ex-wife, Deborah Hendricks, 62, were found dead in a home in the 400 block of Hanna Road late Thursday.

Both were killed by gunshot wounds, police said.

The Michigan State Police Crime Lab's analysis confirmed that Timothy Hendricks used a pistol to shoot and kill Deborah Hendricks, and then himself, police said.

Officials said they had been called to the address on numerous occasions to deal with situations involving attempted suicides by both parties.

Police were called to the scene by Hendricks' brother at about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, after he stopped at the residence and saw one of the bodies through a window.

Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth said it's not unusual to see murder-suicides around the holidays.

"It's a tragic situation," Wriggelsworth said. "It's difficult to say what causes people to get to this point in their life and I don't know that timing has anything to do with it."

Hendricks and the woman had been divorced for about two years, but still lived together, according to police.

Police also said Hendricks had served the woman with eviction papers within the last few days.
