MASON - Planners have scheduled three "visioning workshops" for the public in an effort to develop the city's newest master plan.
The Mason Planning Commission and Mason Zoning and Development Department will host the three "Community Visioning Workshops" to get public input.
"This is essentially one of the first steps in the Master Plan process," Director of Zoning Development David Haywood said in a press release.
"These workshops will help create a strong vision for our neighborhoods," he said.
The workshops will be held this month at Mason City Hall - evening sessions from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 12 and 29, as well as one morning session on Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
The workshops will focus on positive and negative aspects of the community, challenges and priority areas, visions of neighborhoods and the city at large.
"The planning commission has been working very hard on the master plan," Planning Commission Chair Ed Reeser said. "These visioning workshops will provide an informal environment where members of the community can voice their concerns and express ideas regarding the future of the city."
Those who cannot attend will be offered a questionnaire.
"We really want the community to be involved in this process," Haywood said. "Our goal is to have a master plan that reflects the sentiments of our residents, businesses and community leaders."
