MASON, MI – The Mason Planning Commission and the Mason Zoning and Development Department will be holding three (3) Community Visioning Workshops to obtain public input on the new Master Plan. Residents, business leaders, and other members of the community are invited to come share their thoughts and concerns about the future of Mason.

“This is essentially one of the first steps in the Master Plan process.” Said David Haywood, Director of Zoning and Development for the City of Mason. “It is very important to get the public involved in city planning. These workshops will help create a strong vision for our neighborhoods and for various development, redevelopment, and revitalization efforts in the community.”

The workshops will be held at Mason City Hall throughout the month of September. There will be two evening sessions on September 12th and 29th, from 6:30-‐8:00pm. There will also be a mid-‐morning session on September 20th, from 10:00 – 11:30am.

“The Planning Commission has been working very hard on the master plan.” Remarked Ed Reeser, Planning Commission Chairman. “These visioning workshops will provide an informal environment where members of the community can voice their concerns and express ideas regarding the future of our city.”

The three workshops will focus on positive and negative aspects of the community, challenges and priority areas, and visions for neighborhoods and the city at large. For those who cannot attend, the city is also creating a questionnaire that will be available in electronic and hard copy format. This will provide another medium for public input on the master plan.

“We really want the community to be involved in this process.” Haywood commented. “Our goal is to have a master plan that reflects the sentiments of our residents, businesses, and community leaders.”
