Last night, the Mason City Council appointed me to the Mason Planning Commission. The council also filled another vacancy on the commission with the appointment of Ms. Kelli Green. Our appoitments were effective June 6, 2011 with Ms. Green's term expiring at the end of 2011 and my term expiring at the end of 2012. It is an honor to be appointed to the commission and I look forward to serving the community in this capacity.
As a planning commissioner, I will post on this blog in an effort to promote transperancy and keep residents informed about our meetings and actions. City planning can be very challenging at times because these decisions impact families, neighborhoods, and the community at large. However, I have a foundational background in local government planning and zoning, and I hope to use my experiences to help move our city forward.
My work on the planning commission actually begins tonight with a special meeting. The meeting will be held at 6:30pm in the Council Chambers of City Hall. For those who cannot make it out tonight, the meetings of the planning commission are also broadcasted live on Broadstripe Local Access TV (Channel 21). There is only one item on the agenda tonight which is as follows:
4A - Resolution No. 2011-03 - A Resolution Approving A Preliminary And Final Site Plan To Allow Gestamp Mason To Construct A 32,000 Square Foot Building Addition To The Existing Manufacturing Facility Located At 200 East Kipp RoadIf you would like to review our commission packet for this meeting, it may be accessed at http://mason.mi.us/PCagendas/2011/060711PCpacket.pdf
I will post a summary of the meeting later this week.
