MASON - The National Day of Prayer tradition this year is scheduled for Thursday, May 5.
The 60th anniversary of the day has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on the Ingham County Courthouse lawn.
The rain location will be the Mason First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Ash St.
Decorated WWII veteran and Mason resident Ernie Lutz will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Lisa Bonotto and Holly Erb will sing the National Anthem.
Christian music recording artists, Faith 4, will offer acoustic worship songs and the night will be filled with prayer.
The national theme for this year is "A Mighty Fortress is our God," and the local theme is "7 Points of Prayer-7 Days a Week."
The seven points, which cover Americans with God's power, are Family, Government, Military, Church, Education, Media and Business.
In conjunction with the theme, Representatives from the community will offer prayer.
Mason Mayor Leon Clark will pray for the Government and Father Kusitino Cobona from St. James Church will pray for Church.
Mason schoolteacher, John Gillengerten, will pray for Education.
"Our nation, our state, our local governments and our citizens are in need of prayer," said Bob Cwiertniewicz, Mason event coordinator for the National Day of Prayer.
The public is invited to the annual event at Courthouse Square.
