Michigan Political Leadership Program's (MPLP) Class of 2010, including Marlon Brown of Mason, will be honored this month in graduation ceremonies from the Michigan State University fellowship program considered outstanding in the nation.
The class will be honored at two events featuring two White House press secretaries as keynote speakers. Mike McCurry, former press secretary in the administration of President Bill Clinton, and Dana Perino, former press secretary in President George W. Bush's administration, will speak at MPLP's 16th Annual Dinner and Ninth Annual West Michigan Breakfast.
Dinner, at Laurel Manor Banquet and Conference Center in Livonia, is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10. Breakfast takes place at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11 at Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids. With the 2010 class, more than 500 aspiring leaders from around the state will have graduated from the 10-month training that offers a series of activities designed to build leadership, public policy and good governance.
MPLP trains 24 competitively selected Fellows per year. The 2010 MPLP Fellows include Brown, associate director of the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Leadership in Public Policy and Service at Albion College.
